Our Standards

We Vet Every Mover.
No Exceptions.

The moving industry has a reputation problem. Rogue movers, hidden fees, damaged furniture, and no-shows are far too common. We built LongDistanceMoves.com specifically to fix that — by creating a network of movers who have earned the right to be here.

How We Vet Our Partners

Less than 15% of moving companies that apply to join our network are accepted. Here's exactly what we check.

01

License & Registration Verification

We verify every company's FMCSA license number, USDOT number, and state operating authority. Companies with any lapsed or suspended licenses are immediately disqualified.

02

Insurance Review

We require minimum cargo insurance of $100,000 and liability coverage of $750,000. We verify coverage directly with insurance providers — not just from company-provided documents.

03

Background Checks on All Crew

Every individual mover who works on our network must pass a comprehensive background check including criminal history, sex offender registry, and identity verification.

04

Reference & Review Analysis

We analyze reviews across Google, Yelp, BBB, and moving-specific platforms. We also contact past customers directly. Companies with patterns of complaints are disqualified.

05

Test Move

Before joining our network, every company completes a supervised test move. Our quality team evaluates packing technique, communication, professionalism, and care.

06

Ongoing Monitoring

Joining our network isn't permanent. We conduct quarterly audits, monitor post-move surveys, and use mystery shoppers. Companies that slip below our standards are removed.

Our Standards

Non-Negotiable Rules
For Every Move.

Vetting gets companies into our network. These standards keep them there — and protect you on every single move.

Zero Tolerance for Hostage Situations

Any company that holds belongings hostage or demands payment beyond the agreed amount is permanently banned and reported to FMCSA.

Damage Response Protocol

All partners must respond to damage claims within 48 hours and resolve them within 30 days. Failure to comply results in removal from the network.

Body Camera Policy

For White Glove moves, 100% body camera coverage is mandatory. Footage is stored for 90 days and available to customers on request.

Binding Estimates Required

All quotes provided through our platform are binding — your final price cannot exceed the quoted amount without your written approval.

Moving planning and trust

Our Promise to You

If a move booked through our platform doesn't meet our standards, we will personally work to make it right — including rebooking at no additional cost if necessary.
