LongDistanceMoves.com was built by people who've been burned by bad movers, overwhelmed by the process, and wished they had a trusted friend who'd been through it all before. So we became that friend.
The average American moves 11.7 times in their lifetime. And yet, the moving industry remains one of the least trusted in the country. Hidden fees, damaged furniture, no-shows, and outright scams are disturbingly common — especially for long-distance moves where you're handing your entire life over to strangers.
We started LongDistanceMoves.com after one of our founders had a nightmare move from New York to Charlotte. The company he hired had glowing online reviews, a professional website, and a reasonable quote. What he got was a crew that showed up 4 hours late, a final bill 40% higher than quoted, and three pieces of furniture that arrived damaged. When he tried to file a claim, the company stonewalled him for months.
That experience led to a simple question: Why doesn't someone build a moving network that actually holds its partners accountable?
So we did. We built a network of moving companies that had to earn their place — through rigorous vetting, ongoing monitoring, and a zero-tolerance policy for the practices that give the industry a bad name. We added body camera surveillance for our premium service. We made all quotes binding. We created city guides because we believe moving is about building a new life, not just transporting boxes.
Today, we serve 13 major US markets and have helped hundreds of families move with confidence. We're not just a network. We're the well-traveled friend you wish you had when you were staring at a stack of moving quotes and had no idea who to trust.
No hidden fees. No bait-and-switch. Every quote we provide is binding. We tell you exactly what you're paying for before you commit to anything.
We hold our partners to standards that most networks don't even think about. If something goes wrong, we don't point fingers — we fix it.
We'd rather turn away a mover who doesn't meet our standards than make a commission. Our reputation depends on every single move going right.
We've built city guides because we believe moving is about more than boxes — it's about building a life somewhere new. We want to help with that too.
